Church History

Building Construction

Snowy Range Evangelical Free Church began in 1984 when a group of Christians formed a Bible study with the intent of starting a new church in Laramie. In early 1985, we were incorporated as the First Evangelical Free Church of Laramie and admitted into the Rocky Mountain District of the Evangelical Free Church of America.

The church met in various locations during its history:

Various Member's Homes

Alice Hardie Stevens Center

Office Building on South 3rd Street

Church Building 1402 Gibbon

UW Education Auditorium

Albany County Fairgrounds

Present Location of 2552 N. 15th St.

The church has had three pastors during its time in Laramie:

Steve Forcey 1985

Steve Smith 1985-86 (interim pastor)

Mike Coughlin 1986-2007

Don Urey 2007- (interim pastor)

The church has always attracted young families, students, and members of the University of Wyoming, Wyo Tech, and Laramie community. Its ministries include Sunday worship, Sunday school, hosting the non-denominational youth ministry ExTOL, support of many missionaries, and various small groups and Bible studies. The church remains solidly committed to glorifying the Lord Jesus Christ in what it does.

In recent years, the church adopted the mission statement:

Making Disciples who make a difference for Jesus Christ in Laramie, Wyoming and around the world.

The church is grateful to God for its 23 years of existence with 2004 being our 20th anniversary. We look forward to many more years of reaching people with the good news of Jesus Christ.
